National PhD program in AI - Society, Cycle of Seminars A.Y. 2024/25

The aim is to introduce new PhD students to topics that arise in the life of a researcher in AI, including how to search for knowledge and state-of-the-art, how to access computational resources, how to write a scientific paper, how to make an effective presentation in public, how to measure the performance of scientific publications, how to disseminate research, how to collaborate in scientific projects, etc. The seminars will be given by speakers with a specific background on the topic of the seminar.

Organization

Hours and rooms

The seminars will be offered in the period March 2025 - July 2025. In each month will be organized up to 1/2 half days of lectures. Lecture can be attended in presence in Pisa or online by Teams. A Teams channel will be used to post news, notes, Q&A, and other stuff related to the course. The lectures will be live-streamed and recorded (when possible).

Please subscribe, by using your UNIPI account, the Course Teams channel for updates: Cycle of Seminars on AI

IMPORTANT: the actual dates of the seminars of each month will be updated here in the next days.

Certification

These seminars are without exam. Attendance (in presence or online) is required for at least 14 hours (70% of 20 hours) of lectures to obtain a certificate. Notice that the official duration of the seminars is 20 hours of lectures, but the actual total number of hours will be greater than 20 to allow for students to have a large selection of topics.

ATTENDANCE: The online attendance is reserved for PhD students working in host institutions (“sede operativa”) not located in Pisa. For all the PhD students working in Pisa (University of Pisa, ISTI-CNR, IIT-CNR, SNA, SSSA, INFN, etc.) the attendance by default will be in presence. In the registration form, students working in Pisa and who cannot attend in presence MUST justify their online attendance. Valid justifications will be: missions, heath issues etc.

Seminar calendar

Lessons will be both live-streamed (see Teams channel) and in presence at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pisa.
